Until June 2026, I was a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, London, where I worked in the Gemini team. I was with the Gemini team from day 1, focusing mostly on pre-training and later on RL.
I completed my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Oxford on the topic of (Bayesian) Machine Learning. My supervisors were Yarin Gal and Yee Whye Teh.
My first name is pronounced Yoast (like 'toast' with a y) and my last name is a city in the Netherlands.
